Jan Davidsz. de Heem was a Dutch painter, specialized in still lifes. De Heem became one of the most prominent masters of Dutch still life in the Golden Age. He was strongly influenced by the rich Flemish traditions of floral still lifes, but his work was distinguished by an unprecedented attention to detail and an extraordinary sense of composition. A striking feature of De Heem's paintings is the lush abundance of flowers, fruits and objects that he painted with incredible precision.
